Just about 1 whole week

Well, we've survived almost one whole week on our own in a strange land amongst strange people. Really, amongst tourists! Let's see what we've been up to since we got here...sorry if any repeats from previous post, but I don't think I covered much...

Sunday night for dinner we tried to go to Pirate's House, but it was already 9pm and they stopped serving. So we went down on River St to Tubby's Tank House and everyone had a good meal. After that we went down to Spanky's for one and then back up to Bay St to Churchill's for a couple. Me, Mom and Dad gave up and went home while Randy and Greg did some more goofing around.

Monday: did a lot of organizing, found Target, bought stuff to help organize and unpacked boxes...all the while Greg mutter's "we brought too much stuff". We got a lot done with the help of Mom and Dad too. That night we went to dinner at The Pirate's House, the big haunted place. We had a short wait for a table and had delicious meals. Then we went down to Moon River Brewery for a beer and back home for some sleep.

Tuesday: We decided to give up on the unpacking...we did a little bit in the morning tho. We went and did a Trolley tour for the first half of the day. We parked in the city lot by the visitors center and ate at Whistle Stop Cafe and ate on a old train. That was kind of neat. The food was good too. Then off to the trolley...We saw a lot of stuff, but it was quick driving by. We could get on and off too, so we did that a couple times. Went into St. John's cathedral, huge! (I think I told you this already.) Stopped on River St too. Anyways, after the trolley tour we got back in the vehicle and headed over The Bridge. It's 180 feet up in the sky I believe they said. It's big. Then we headed back and went out to Tybee Island and saw the ocean and did a little shopping, touristy stuff. We came back to our place for a little siesta and then went to dinner at Belford's in the City Market. The bread was awesome. The meals were good too after we figured out something to eat. At first we were nervous 'cause there wasn't much for our bland northern palate...but everything we got was delicious! I had the Pasta Primavera (easy to pick out the veggies), Greg and Dad had the Chicken and broccoli Alfredo (easy to pick out the broccoli) and Mom had the Lemon Pepper Salmon. All excellent. After dinner we went home I think.

Wednesday: we thought we were doing good...thought we were on the ball...boy were we wrong. We tried to go to Lady & Sons for lunch, but it was already full at 11a.m. So we just stopped in the little shop and got some biscuit mix and went on our merry way. We went down to River St. and ate at the Cotton Exchange, which was delicious. I guess then we just came back home and hung out until it was time to take Mom & Dad to the airport. So we did that and then we decided to do some searching. We went down/up/over to the mall areas. Yes, two malls. We just drove around and around and around looking for stuff and anything we could find. We had supper at Moe's, this is a place we discovered last year on our tour of the southeast and Greg has been craving it ever since. I think we were at one in Virginia tho, closer to DC. And then I think we went home again and vegged. Whoohoo! Exciting stuff.

Thursday...we started our work out regimen again! We went down to the park and made it 2 miles, which is what we wanted to do. Walk/jog, yay! We got ready and went to Clary's for lunch. It was deeeelicious. This is also a famous place courtesy of "the book". I had the best chocolate shake, yum. And it's not far from our house. That afternoon we went driving around looking for a sports store, nothing. That night we went for dinner with our pal Jenn that we met in Mexico. She's in town for a nursing convention of some sort, she's a NICU nurse. We went to Huey's, it was good. I had wings, which were HOT. Greg and Jenn were going to get a Poboy, but they put some Famous Olive sauce on it which sounded like a concoction of I don't know what...so Greg got a grilled chicken sandwich and Jenn got a Crab Cake Sandwich, both good. Then we went to Spanky's for a drink and then called it a night!

Friday: a lot of nothing. We finally went to the grocery store and loaded up on the necessities. We went to the Kroger store right by our house and wheeled our grocery cart home like the ghetto kids. It was fun. Teehee! Then we wasted a afternoon waiting for a cable guy that never showed up. Whoopee! After that we went to find some meat. Apparently they don't really know what ground beef/chuck is and is instead coarse ground (like the stuff at Wal-mart, the long noodle looking strands of meat). So we ended up getting some of that and making hamburgers, which were good, our first home cooked meal! yay! We also picked up a couple movies and watch The Ice Harvest. Eh...it had it's funny moments and twist and turns...but another, if you have some time to kill flick. We have King Kong to watch yet too.

Saturday: that's today! What the heck did we do? Did our jogging (I get up and go with Porter right away, so as to not sweat too much, yuck...and I get to watch some lacrosse practice). Then we went off to the mall area of town again in search of sporting goods and little tables! Nothing. Nothing at all. There is no huge Dick's or Scheel's or anything of that sort around here. There's a huge Bass Pro Shop, but we don't need a boat. We went to Jonny Rocket's for lunch and were a little disappointed. They're so keen on getting things out fast, that they don't write things down, nor care when who gets what. I got a grilled chicken sandwich, Greg got a cheeseburger, both good...when we were almost done with the sandwiches I finally got my shake. And we never got our 50/50 split of fries and onion rings. It wasn't on the bill either, so apparently her memory doesn't serve her well. We scoured both malls for whatever we could find, which I found some plate stands, and not at my friendly Hallmark store either. They don't sell them there? Whatever! That's about it! We've been hanging out at home now and surviving our first Georgia Thunderstorm! It poured like crazy and flooded the gutters for awhile, but then that let up and everything was fine. Now it's just been raining...a little thunder here and there. Now we're deciding what to do about supper. Eek, it's almost 7...better figure something out before we fade away to nothing! ha, that's funny. Darn, if that Clary's was open past 4, that'd be yummy! Guess we'll actually make something? oh dear. Ha!

Hope that gets everyone up to our exciting speed. We haven't done too many thrilling things. We're thinking of going to the beach tomorrow if the weather is nice. I need to work on my tan! I only have 2 weeks before California!

Night y'all

Don't worry about your tan for California, it's been raining for a month here and we are all pasty-looking.
