Where've ya been?

California!!!

We left awhile ago (like a week) and now we're in San Diego...living the high life! haha! We'll be back in Savannah on May 1st, in time to leave baskets of flowers on the front stoop...hee! We've been having a blast and will give a full update when home.

One quick thing...we went to Six Flags Magic Mountain...we went 100 MPH...it was crazy fun!!!!

Nighty night!!!

It's Official!

Yesterday we went out to the DMV and Tag Dept. to get our official Georgia gear. Here's the result...it's kind-of blurry...but you get the point!

Now we just have to switch the "tag" over...only one on the back, interesting! We'll have to get one of those "G" for the GA bulldogs front plates like everyone else has to fit in. Haha! Right! Maybe a Packer one...or where ever Brett's going next. Yeah, does anyone know what's going on with that? We just saw some stuff on ESPN last night, but couldn't hear anything.

Which brings us to last night! We felt like we were at home! We found Tubby's in Thunderbolt and they have Thursday Sunset Parties. There's a live band outside and a DJ inside. We didn't stay too late as the gnats were horrible. Avon Skin-so-soft here we come. But it was fun. And I won a visor! Which Greg thought would hold off the gnats...

That's about it that has been exciting in our lives. Today we're going to wander around and see what kind of trouble we can drudge up.

Have a good Easter weekend ya'll!

We did some stuff...

Saturday night we went and ate at Tubby's down on River St. It's good and not too expensive...plus we wanted to hang out for a bit. After dinner we went to see what all the hub-bub was about Wet Willies...it's a daiquiri bar! There's one called "call-a-cab" and if you have too many of them, like 2, you better call a cab! They have a dance floor too, so now when Greg's in the mood to dance, we have a place to go. haha! Then we went to the Warehouse. There was a 3-man band playing there, and very good. we just had a beverage there and then headed home. Greg was given the run down by a drunken fella on why he didn't make it to the NFL. He was about 4'5" tall and not all there? Sounds good to me.

So Sunday Greg made the call that we'd go to Charleston, the closest Dick's Sporting Goods Store. It was about a 2 hour drive down some 50mph roads. Nothing to horrible, but wish it was quicker! We were at the Citadel Mall, checked that out after purchasing the weights and had a Charley's sandwich. We then attempted to find the Historic District downtown. We think we found it or it may have been Battery area...not really sure. But we did see some neat houses and where we'll move next.

We walked around this boardwalk type area and around the docks I guess you'd call it. There was a huge X ship docked. I think those are the ones where everyone has "Super Star Power". There wasn't much in the shopping venue, mostly residential and some hotels on the end. I'm sure if you knew where to go, it'd be neat! But it was neat viewing all the same. Giant old houses are always neat. So then we got back on the road on a quest to find Fort Sumter. Which apparently, is impossible. Mission was not accomplished. Apparently it takes some research to figure it out or we just didn't know what we were looking for. We did end up at Folly Beach which is a cute little ocean town. Lots of beach rentals, beach front, county beach, eateries...typical cool stuff. And this picture is out on the beach there!

After the beach we headed home and had leftovers for super, ooh, exciting I know! Then hunkered down for the Sopranos and Grey's Anatomy.

Monday, that's today now. We tried to take care of some things. We went out to the DMV, but of course it's closed on Monday. So we're still running around with WI license plates and driver's license! eegads! Then we found the wal-mart superstore. It really isn't too far from our house...not as close as in BD, but close enough. And from there we went to the post office to see about getting into our mailbox. We need a key. They apparently change the locks with new tenants or something, so we have to wait until Thursday I think before we can get in there! Goodness gracious that thing has to be full of garbage! We just found out on saturday how to even get our mail...one little detail they could've told us long ago. Oh well.

Now it's the afternoon...Greg's resting, he caught a cold. They're pounding away upstairs on something. I don't know how he can sleep thru that! Porter's pacing around looking bored and I don't know what to do. I've updated you all on the happenings here. Maybe I'll go veg at the park. Give Porter some dogs to watch play.

Until something exciting happens...Kate

Just about 1 whole week

Well, we've survived almost one whole week on our own in a strange land amongst strange people. Really, amongst tourists! Let's see what we've been up to since we got here...sorry if any repeats from previous post, but I don't think I covered much...

Sunday night for dinner we tried to go to Pirate's House, but it was already 9pm and they stopped serving. So we went down on River St to Tubby's Tank House and everyone had a good meal. After that we went down to Spanky's for one and then back up to Bay St to Churchill's for a couple. Me, Mom and Dad gave up and went home while Randy and Greg did some more goofing around.

Monday: did a lot of organizing, found Target, bought stuff to help organize and unpacked boxes...all the while Greg mutter's "we brought too much stuff". We got a lot done with the help of Mom and Dad too. That night we went to dinner at The Pirate's House, the big haunted place. We had a short wait for a table and had delicious meals. Then we went down to Moon River Brewery for a beer and back home for some sleep.

Tuesday: We decided to give up on the unpacking...we did a little bit in the morning tho. We went and did a Trolley tour for the first half of the day. We parked in the city lot by the visitors center and ate at Whistle Stop Cafe and ate on a old train. That was kind of neat. The food was good too. Then off to the trolley...We saw a lot of stuff, but it was quick driving by. We could get on and off too, so we did that a couple times. Went into St. John's cathedral, huge! (I think I told you this already.) Stopped on River St too. Anyways, after the trolley tour we got back in the vehicle and headed over The Bridge. It's 180 feet up in the sky I believe they said. It's big. Then we headed back and went out to Tybee Island and saw the ocean and did a little shopping, touristy stuff. We came back to our place for a little siesta and then went to dinner at Belford's in the City Market. The bread was awesome. The meals were good too after we figured out something to eat. At first we were nervous 'cause there wasn't much for our bland northern palate...but everything we got was delicious! I had the Pasta Primavera (easy to pick out the veggies), Greg and Dad had the Chicken and broccoli Alfredo (easy to pick out the broccoli) and Mom had the Lemon Pepper Salmon. All excellent. After dinner we went home I think.

Wednesday: we thought we were doing good...thought we were on the ball...boy were we wrong. We tried to go to Lady & Sons for lunch, but it was already full at 11a.m. So we just stopped in the little shop and got some biscuit mix and went on our merry way. We went down to River St. and ate at the Cotton Exchange, which was delicious. I guess then we just came back home and hung out until it was time to take Mom & Dad to the airport. So we did that and then we decided to do some searching. We went down/up/over to the mall areas. Yes, two malls. We just drove around and around and around looking for stuff and anything we could find. We had supper at Moe's, this is a place we discovered last year on our tour of the southeast and Greg has been craving it ever since. I think we were at one in Virginia tho, closer to DC. And then I think we went home again and vegged. Whoohoo! Exciting stuff.

Thursday...we started our work out regimen again! We went down to the park and made it 2 miles, which is what we wanted to do. Walk/jog, yay! We got ready and went to Clary's for lunch. It was deeeelicious. This is also a famous place courtesy of "the book". I had the best chocolate shake, yum. And it's not far from our house. That afternoon we went driving around looking for a sports store, nothing. That night we went for dinner with our pal Jenn that we met in Mexico. She's in town for a nursing convention of some sort, she's a NICU nurse. We went to Huey's, it was good. I had wings, which were HOT. Greg and Jenn were going to get a Poboy, but they put some Famous Olive sauce on it which sounded like a concoction of I don't know what...so Greg got a grilled chicken sandwich and Jenn got a Crab Cake Sandwich, both good. Then we went to Spanky's for a drink and then called it a night!

Friday: a lot of nothing. We finally went to the grocery store and loaded up on the necessities. We went to the Kroger store right by our house and wheeled our grocery cart home like the ghetto kids. It was fun. Teehee! Then we wasted a afternoon waiting for a cable guy that never showed up. Whoopee! After that we went to find some meat. Apparently they don't really know what ground beef/chuck is and is instead coarse ground (like the stuff at Wal-mart, the long noodle looking strands of meat). So we ended up getting some of that and making hamburgers, which were good, our first home cooked meal! yay! We also picked up a couple movies and watch The Ice Harvest. Eh...it had it's funny moments and twist and turns...but another, if you have some time to kill flick. We have King Kong to watch yet too.

Saturday: that's today! What the heck did we do? Did our jogging (I get up and go with Porter right away, so as to not sweat too much, yuck...and I get to watch some lacrosse practice). Then we went off to the mall area of town again in search of sporting goods and little tables! Nothing. Nothing at all. There is no huge Dick's or Scheel's or anything of that sort around here. There's a huge Bass Pro Shop, but we don't need a boat. We went to Jonny Rocket's for lunch and were a little disappointed. They're so keen on getting things out fast, that they don't write things down, nor care when who gets what. I got a grilled chicken sandwich, Greg got a cheeseburger, both good...when we were almost done with the sandwiches I finally got my shake. And we never got our 50/50 split of fries and onion rings. It wasn't on the bill either, so apparently her memory doesn't serve her well. We scoured both malls for whatever we could find, which I found some plate stands, and not at my friendly Hallmark store either. They don't sell them there? Whatever! That's about it! We've been hanging out at home now and surviving our first Georgia Thunderstorm! It poured like crazy and flooded the gutters for awhile, but then that let up and everything was fine. Now it's just been raining...a little thunder here and there. Now we're deciding what to do about supper. Eek, it's almost 7...better figure something out before we fade away to nothing! ha, that's funny. Darn, if that Clary's was open past 4, that'd be yummy! Guess we'll actually make something? oh dear. Ha!

Hope that gets everyone up to our exciting speed. We haven't done too many thrilling things. We're thinking of going to the beach tomorrow if the weather is nice. I need to work on my tan! I only have 2 weeks before California!

Night y'all

We're Alive!

Well, we made it...and we're all in one piece!

Call me Charles Jr, but I went with what he did to journal his trip and here it is for ya'll...

3/31 Friday
39,716 miles (Penske truck) @ 9:37a.m. we left Beaver Dam. Greg's mom was there to see us off after her 3rd to last day at the YMCA! We got on 151 to Madison and holy crap was it windy. The truck would rock back and forth, I felt sea sick and white knuckled it for awhile.

39,766 10:57a.m. What the?!?!? A freaking tire shredded!!! We had to pull over on 39, luckily we were 100 feet from Hwy N exit and were able to get up there and into a truck stop. Penske sent a fix-it dude...while waiting, we were witness' to a hilarious bout of "Semi-loving" (my own term). Ms. Nurse waited for Mr. Trucker for awhile, Mr. Trucker showed up, Ms. Nurse joined him in the truck for a smoke...next thing we knew (the tire guy showed up and he distracted us for awhile) if the truck is a rockin' don't come a knockin' was in full effect! Eeegads. Anyways, had to share the terror with everyone!

12:13pm we're back on the road. We also notice the rocking in the wind isn't as bad either.

40,076 5:28p.m. We docked in Effingham, IL for the night. Hard day of driving for Greg with all the winds and we didn't have far to go tomorrow. We ate at LoneStar and went to TGI Friday's for a beverage and discovered the local bowling alley. 36 lanes of regular joes bowling. The accent may already start down here, but the beautiful bodies, no. Haha!

4/1 Saturday
8:30a.m. We hit the road again...much calmer day and Greg is starting to feel better (from the previous weeks attack of the food poisoning).

40,231 10:44a.m. we hit Kentucky, FINALLY. Illinois is so long and boring.

11:26a.m. we see our first Waffle House and know we're in the South now!

40,324 12:25p.m. Tennessee (and a phone call from Sara).

40,371 1:06p.m. We easily find the Ramada by the coliseum...I go to check in and no pets allowed. Well, what the crud is that? So after hassling with them and hotels.com and driving around looking for nothing, we find a helpful Quality Suites where the owner happens to be there and grants us permission to have Porter at his Best Western Airport Inn. So about 3pm we check in there and about 4pm Randy gets to the hotel via shuttle from the airport via being Greg Sutton to get the shuttle in the first place. Whew. But dangit, we're in Nashvegas baby, nothing can bring us down here!!! We went down to Music Row (taxi!) and ate at Hooters. Checked out Printers Alley and found Lonnie's Karaoke, enjoyed that for a bit, got suckered into Nashville Nites with a bunch of weirdos...Checked out Coyote Ugly of course and went to Wannabe's for a little more karaoke singing. None of us sang, but listened and had a good time. So we were all happily content and silly by 10:30pm and went back to the hotel for the night.

4/2 Sunday
5,569 8:17a.m. I move over to the Durango so Greg and Randy could drive the Penske. We sprang ahead for daylight savings and realize we'll loose another hour when we hit the Georgia border. Ugh. The best quote of the trip, "we're drinking our way to Georgia", says Buzz.

5,693 10:15a.m. Tennessee River (reminds me of Whisky River)

5,720 10:40a.m. Somewhere around here we hit GA! We got onto I75 S and I think that was it. Foggy, wet and feels a little warm out. So it's the time zone change too, so it's really 11:40.

5,806 1:00p.m. (I forget if I added in the time change or not.) We stopped for lunch by Kennesaw State University. Wherever that is. After lunch I drove.

5,901 2:55p.m. First Savannah Sign

5,928 3:15p.m. First Confederate Flag sighting.

6,180 6:00pm We made it!!!

Porter did great the whole time...but now he's a little confused or something. He hasn't really eaten and has to get used to us walking him for his bathroom breaks, not just shoved out the door. So we'll see how that goes. The place is about 75% set up...I'm having some issues with all my kitchen stuff. Ebay sale coming up! It's still a awesome place, but we'll have some getting used to cramped quarters here. Should've sold more at the rummage sale! Haha! We'll figure it out, don't worry. Give us a couple weeks to get everything straight and learn the right roads to go down without running into squares.

My mom and dad leave tomorrow. They were so helpful too. We did a lot on sunday and monday, but kind-of gave up today (tuesday) and they leave tomorrow. But we got A LOT accomplished I think.

It is 10:30 here...Boston Legal is on right now...this is going to take some getting used too also! Shows a hour later, Monday night football lasting until 3 in the morning...maybe not that bad, but that's what it will feel like. Teehee!

Okay, I tried to add pictures and still having issues...I'll get 'em someday!

Nighty night from Georgia!
