We're still hangin out in the hospital. he's passing all his tests with flying colors...he's just a stubborn male that doesn't want to eat! I'm sure there's more info on Charles' blog, so head on over there! I'm on my way!

Little Guy

Well, it looks like I'll get to experience seeing my new nephew for the first time in the hospital just like if he was just born! He is okay, just dehydrated, so they're feeding him and all that and monitoring his intake. Not sure when he'll get to go home either, I suppose when he's eating right. He's gained 4 oz already, whohoo!

We're still alive

Yup, we're still here...sweating like pigs...eating like kings and queens...

We tried a new place over the weekend, Bella's Italian Restaurant. Eh...don't worry, it's not on our "must eat" list for visitors. I got pizza and Greg got lasagna. The 'za was blah and the lasagna was so-so. Our waitress tho? She apparently wasn't in a good mood that night! She was unpleasant and did not pass my test. No no no.

No beach the past weekend. We got suckered into Sam's club! Now we can buy 500 rolls of TP in one package and a 50 pack of razors! Yahoo!

We missed the Dodge County Fair this past weekend for the first time in eon's. Cheap Trick we luckily saw open for Aerosmith a couple years ago...but I'd like to have seen SheDaisy! La La La!

In 4 short days from now I'll get to see my new nephew Saul! Yay!!! I'm so excited I could pee my pants. Here's the latest shot courtesy of my sister...ain't he a looker!

That's about it for now...I have to go start supper, spaghetti, I'm lazy. I'm going to attempt blackened chicken again tomorrow night. My first try awhile ago wasn't very black, so we'll see!

Adventures!

We did something today! How 'bout that! We decided to take a drive north on Hwy 17 and see what we could see. Well, we didn't see a whole lot and on the way decided we wanted to see some plantations. As we got closer to Charleston we saw a sign for this place, Magnolia Plantation, and decided that was the place to go. It was really neat and about time we did some sight-seeing! After we tired of walking in the sun (which only happened later in the afternoon, prior it was gorgeous out as you can tell by my hair actually being down and not in a pony tail for once), we headed towards Charleston. We were actually in North Charleston, which seems to be more of the suburbs type area. We found a downtown area and parked and stumbled across the shopping district. Comparable to State St. in Madison, but with one way traffic and narrower sidewalks. We ended up eating at Mellow Mushroom (who can pass up that intro!) Then we walked around a-bit and then went to investigate further the invisible Fort Sumter tour. If you remember last time we went to Charleston, we couldn't find it for the life of us. Well, this time it was easy! There's a Monument with Tickets right inside. So we went in there and got the information for next time. By now it was already 4pm and no more tours going out...we were both pooped anyways. Then we headed home.

Greg's watching Night of the Living Dead I think and I'm writing this. Entourage is on at 10 so I have to stay up for that! That show makes me giggle. I tried to do the interview with Ari, but shooting up zombies is way to loud right now.

We haven't been up to too much else. If you haven't guessed by now the owner on that house didn't go for our offer. Fine, let it sit empty sucker! So now we really will be patiently waiting for some lucky person to buy the house in WI. (Oh this movie is gross.) I'm going to California in two weeks to see my handsome new nephew! Yay! I'm so excited! Hopefully I'm helpful and not a hindrance! Gramma & Grampa will be there too. (Greg is watching this movie in the dark! Eeeek!)

What a wild week! Hard to believe it's over already, but it is. Brett & Diann just pulled out for their journey home. They're trying a different route back up and will be going thru some mountains, sounds pretty cool! They took care of themselves during the day time hours we were at work...finding lots to do. They visited a couple historic parks, the beach, the Harley shop and wandered into South Carlonia. It was pretty hot out the whole time too, but that probably helped work off all the food we ate! Here's a recap!

Arrived Saturday Night. We ate at The Pirate's House, met the new owner of that and then did a little walk along River St and then went into City Market so they got to see Greg's old stomping ground.

Sunday we went to Tybee. Of course it had to sprinkle the whole time we were there, but it was still fun. We ate breakfast at The Breakfast Club...a small wait and a table in the direct path of the AC vent, but the food was awesome. Sunday night we walked downtown and ate at MoonRiver and then went on a ghost walk! Our 3rd one and it was a little different of course.

Monday night once everyone was home and ready we went to Jalepenos! Yay! that was good. I like it a lot. Then we went to Publix and got ingredients for Brett to make Chicken Taco's! Not in the same night of course!

Tuesday night Brett cooked his chicken tacos. They were delish and even better as lunch the next few days! :) I think we just hung out and watched a movie...Dazed and Confused I believe it was...those two had never seen it and being high schoolers in the 70's, we thought it was a must!

Wednesday was glorious! It was hotter than blazes, but we went out to the Crab Shack. I think we found one of our new favorite places! We sat outside (it's on the water) and they had big fans and misters, so it wasn't too terrible. I saw a dolphin out in the cove, they had cats running around and the food was awesome! So now you know when you're here to visit one of the for sure places to go.

Thursday night we treated them to a Thursday Sunset at Tubby's. Luckily we were able to sit up in the tree house which was enjoyable, although a bit warm! After dinner (my burger was not cooked to my request...always get seafood at Tubby's...lesson learned!) we watched the little girls and boys enjoy their meat market for awhile.

Finally Friday! Work week is over! It's still hotter then H-E-Double Hockey Sticks. We decided to go down to River St and eat at Huey's. Food was awesome and the bar area was great, but rest of the service was so-so. Usually it's so great. Oh well...can't be perfect every time I guess. After dinner we walked around River St, went by the Waving Girl and then headed over to Savannah Blues to listen to the band and hang out for awhile.

This morning we went to Clary's for breakfast...the one out on habersham, not the "famous" one. This one's a little more low-key and the food is just as good if not better than the "original". After that we went out to Bonaventure cemetary. They had been out there one other day, but didn't find Garcie's statue, so off we went and found it, walked around and looked at dead people. Then we headed home and they packed up and were off!

Now it's over, Greg's fast asleep on the couch while Porter lays still as a board on the floor. I'm about to join them too. Zonk! We survived our first visitors and experienced new things too, it was great! Now back to the real world, cooking at home and hanging out with each other.

They're here! They're here!

They made it! It was quit the battle but they did it. B&D arrived about 6:30 last night, ahead of schedule after a wet, dry, we, dry, hot ride.

So last night we ate at The Pirates House, which is under new ownership. Everyone's else had great meals, but mine was kind-of blah. So now I know not to get that again. Then we went and walked down River Street to show them the river and that and then went over to City Market. We went to Wild Wings first because I had to use a decent bathroom before going into Sav. Blues where the bathroom is not so decent. And after that we went to Mercury Lounge to hear Bottles & Cans. It was a fun night.

Visitors

Let's see...not much going on lately other than the heat. I walked outside with Porter tonight and had to stop to catch my breath. The air is THICK with humidty and my hair instantly went "boing"! (That's curls forming.) Last night I stood out back and waited for Porter to do his business and broke a sweat doing that meager task. I know the whole country is at above-normal heat, so I'm sure everyone's doing the same thing...the only difference, your heat will probably break, ours lasts for another month. :) Teehee!

We do have visitors coming! I'm so excited! Greg's brother Brett and his lady Diann are arriving sometime on Saturday. They are driving down from WI on their Harley's. An exciting trip for them! Hopefully Illinois doesn't bore them to tears that they can't see where they are going! Eeek! And I hope everyone knows ya'll have a open invitation for visits! We just don't recommend the month of August or July unless you love heat. It's normally tolerable until about 1pm, then the city opens up and swallows you whole. Ha!

Some things I've seen...

• 2 separate incidents at Krogers of people up-chucking...yes, right out front of the store.
• just this morning, squirrels mating up in a tree! I had to advert Porter's eyes so I didn't see much.
• our neighbors dog defend it's territory by some crazy guy yelling then throwing his bag of food at her...then said dog bolting like mad only to be found a day or two later.
• Greg eating a bag of Cheeto's in 2 sittings.
• the BIGGEST arachnid I have ever seen in my life. Holy BLEEP! The body was the size of half a hot dog, I swear!

I think that's about it in recent history.

I was able to show off my mad skills in Excel today at work! I wowed the socks off the customer and a co-worker. Teehee! Remember in Harry Potter when Dumbledore would take the swirls out of his noggin and put them in the pensieve? That is exactly what my brain does everytime I make a copy...whoop, whooop, whoooo, toodle-loo! And today, I made A LOT of copies. :)

They Did It!

I don't know all the details (or even the correct spelling of his name) but Baby Statman is here! They left for the hospital at 4pm, the water broke en-route and he was born by 5pm! Such miracles eh? So much for the doc telling her she'd be late...but then again, you tell us gals one thing and being stubborn, we'll do the other.

We tried some new eateries this weekend. Carrabba's last night, which was delicious, but we ate too late and had hurting bellies this morning. But I got the advice from others it's the best steak in town and I must say, it could very well be. Pretty sad that a chain wins that in this town of originals. Now today for lunch we had Chick-fil-a. Just chicken all the time. And the shake was good too! But it's real chicken, not McDonald's processed ground up pressed into fun shapes chicken. Ew. Have you seen Super Size Me? Tonight we went on an adventure to Richmond Hills to try Augie's Pub where the pizza is supposed to be the best. The owner is from Chicago so we felt right at home and they even had one Packer Pennant flag! My review of the pizza...alright, a little blah, not the best I've had actually. Greg thought it was awesome. I think mostly because it's the only thin crust pizza we've seen around here! But I believe it was Grande Cheese on the pizza, so that made up for the blahness somewhat.

Tomorrow we're going to see Clerks II! We'll see if the magic still exists in Kevin Smith.

Oh yes...we accidentally found a house we want. :) We were just nosing around last weekend and decided to look at this place since it's vacant. It needs a lot of sweat equity and some polishing, but it's something we NEVER thought we could get ourselves into. It's not for sure yet, just in the beginning phase of seeing what we can do. But here are a couple pictures, and mind you, it has been vacant for some time and whoever painted it must've been color blind, but it has HUGE potential and is possibly a dream come true. And hopefully I'm not jinxing it by showing ya'll a preview!

Here's a map so you might get a general idea of where it is. Daffin Park is the other huge park in town (there's actually quite a few I guess). Oh, can you see the red star? I think it disappeared, but it's on the corner of 50th & Waters, 2 blocks south of the park.

This is the kitchen...see what I mean by color blind? The cabinets, counter tops and tile back splash seem to be recent additions. Will we keep the checkerboard floor?
And what is the deal with Red Living Rooms? It is our curse I think. There is also a sun porch behind the fireplace that is red too. The floor is brand new, I love the inlaid details, and the fireplace is gas.
Master Suite. It's huge with an attached bathroom. that pole thing is someone's left-over clothes rack. I'm kind-of at a loss for what some of the items are doing in the house since it has been vacant for so long and the current owner never lived there. And shh...there's a neon beer sign in the attic...hopefully a treasure they leave for us. :)
And here is the front. The azalea bushes are a tad overgrown (tad? I mean exTREEEEEmly overgrown, there's more in the back and along the side) and if we do get this house our first purchase after closing will be a hedge trimmer. Start the recommendations now! Oh yeah, and an exterminator. Ew.
Can you picture what it'll be like once it's restored to all it's grandeur? A true southern belle...not quite the beauties dating back 100 years that you find downtown (nor the millions of dollars), but safer 60 years with brick! Haha!

Alright, I think I've caught everyone up! There hasn't been much going on lately...we eat, sleep and work. Greg had an excellent time back home for the weekend...had a good birthday...and now we have a new nephew. :) We can rest easy tonight. Night ya'll.

Dedicated

I've been bacheloretted for the weekend! Greg's back up in WI having a fun old time with family and friends. I think they're wearing him out! He said it's hot up there (as opposed to down here?) and he is having a good time. He comes home tomorrow afternoon sometime, which is his birthday! And what have I been up to while the cat's away? Well, where do I begin!

I had a little Pampered Chef open house saturday morning...turn-out, not so good, but got a couple orders so I can't complain. Hopefully some more orders trickle in. Anyways, friday night I just prepared for that and now I have left-overs galore! But they're all delicious and I'll eat it myself! Haha...no, I'll share! Okay, back to saturday...after my party fizzled out (okay after the one person left) I decided I better go and check out the outlet mall in South Carolina. Hold on, S. Carolina is only a stone's throw away, don't worry. But of course what was supposed to be a 1/2 hour drive turned into a hour drive. Being the dedicated shopper I am, I did not turn around tho when others were! What is wrong with these people? Did everyone just have to get to Hilton Head on saturday? NutS! But I eventually made it and had a glorious time! I did get some real errands done too, so don't worry, I wasn't selfish! Just a smidge tho.

It is not everyday you see a Transformer sticker on someone's truck at Bed Bath & Beyond! Go Megatron! And I'll be dang-gummited, there's a movie coming out next year. Heee! That cracks me up.

Saturday night I hung out with the neighbors that were here on there way down to Disney. They'll be back next weekend and we'll have a BBQ, yay! And then I spoiled them with the Cookies and Cream Supreme treat that I didn't even take out of the fridge for the open house. MmMmm. Here's something else I made, Cool & Creamy Chocolate Fondue that is of course delicious too. If anyone ever needs snacks or appetizers ideas, ask me! I've got all the ideas and they're so easy.

What else...I've been listening to The Hog 102.9 this weekend and they're broadcasting live from Summerfest 90% of the time. So I know there is currently a sever thunderstorm warning for Dodge County, does Greg? Ha! Ugh, today I drove around aimlessly looking for that man's birthday present. Needless to say I didn't find it, came home and looked on line. It's out of production and cost a pretty penny. I'll let you know what it is after he knows! (It's not a book.)

That's about it! I pick birthday boy up tomorrow afternoon...I'm thinking of begging work to let me be done for the day at that point too. (Whoah...I think they were supposed to bleep the f-word out of this Green Day song, but they didn't do a very good job...oops. Yup, that's my excitement for the day!)

Oh yes, announcement!!! My friend Angie just found out she's having a baby girl in November! Yay! I think they'll name her Kate, but they've been leaning towards Molly. Don't worry, I have some time to work on 'em. :) How Not To Name A Baby. I can tell you...do the banana fanna song and your good to go...

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY

Happy Independence!

Let's see...we've actually done something worth reporting so hold on to your seats! It's not that exciting, but here we go!

Friday the 30th...Greg ended up working at Savannah Blues, possibly his last night? We'll see what happens once he comes back from WI. He didn't get home until 6am, so he was pooped out and slept in saturday. That was the end of his official first week back on the job...it went well, and he was able to put in overtime too. So far he is enjoying it! Saturday, ran some errands during the day and Greg didn't work that night so we actually did something! :) First we started at the Caledonia, it's a British based pub that's only been open for a couple months. No food there, but a couple had a dog named Nancy (teehee, some of you might get it!) tied to the pool table. So then we went on to the Crystal Beer Parlor and it's OLD. Greg decided he didn't want to eat there, not sure why...so we had a beverage and then moved on. We decided on trying Fiddler's...something new to add to the experience. We weren't too impressed tho. I had a crab cake samich and it was eh and the fries were blah. So don't worry, we won't take you there. Greg had a Black & Bleu Burger and said his was good...the medium rare was pretty rare in the middle, good for those that like it to moo!

After din-din we walked around River Street for awhile...there was a gajillion people and it was hot. Ugh. We meandered around and then eventually went home.

Let's see, Sunday...did some good couch potato action and then eventually headed out to Moe's for some lunch and then stopped at Publix to pick up food for dinner. I had already picked up corn-on-the cob the other day so we needed a compliment food. We went for all the glory and did our first round of Crab Legs at HOME! Oh heavens-to-betsies, it was deeeeee-licious!!! Greg was a little skeptical of trying it, but I think I talked about it enough the past couple months and was he glad he changed his mind! And they were on sale, extra bonus.


And here's what Porter does while we eat...I can't help it he sows down his food too fast!


After dinner we walked down to River St (we drove saturday night). We stopped at McDonough's for hydration on the way. It's close to where I work. Then continued on our way. Oh yes, our main point of this journey was to get pictures of the big boats...well, it was dark of course and I did what I could! Which wasn't much, no pictures yet...have to go in the daylight.

After walking around and visiting with people and one boxer girl that could've been Porter's baby sister we headed to City Market (the area where Greg works.) We checked out the new Wild Wings, it was cool, but didn't eat, can't spoil the afterglow of crab legs! There was a band outside (I think someone is playing there every sunday) so we hung out and took Greg's picture at his post.


Georgia law: Alcohol Serving establishments can not be open on sunday unless they serve food. Hence the closed doors of Savannah Blues and other establishments on sunday. No Alcohol Sales On Sunday! Cant' even buy stuff at grocery stores or gas stations. But if you're an eaterie, have at it! Man, someone has a lot of time on their hands to get that detail on the populations and technicalities of hours! Effingham County is a DRY County (north west of us I believe).

And then we walked home on the lighted streets of Savannah safe and sound. Monday morning came and we all went to work! Tonight there are fireworks out on Tybee Island, but we're not sure if we want to deal with all the traffic. It's a pain just on the weekend! Plus Greg isn't home yet and it's 6:30 already. So we'll probably wait for tomorrow and go down to River Street for those fireworks. Yay!

That's about it! OH WAIT!

Someone walked into work this morning, asked for Me, I said that's me and she said I was supposed to ask for you...and I said for what? And she said for work. And I said, ooooh, I'm supposed to be training you? and she said yeah. and I said Mr. Manager you know about this? and he said yes and I said, you could'a told me under my breath. So now, I am officially a supervisor in my eyes. Teehee! She's alright, likes to smoke, p.u. We'll see what happens there!

Greg's J-O-B

Greg's job is going great! He supervises 30 people that pick orders of parts that need to go to dealers, shops and people that need to fix their machines. He's learning and catching on to everything and will be running the joint in no time. :)

I am still the copy queen. It's alright, something to do for now still. I will find something more glamourous! I don't know what, but we'll see what's out there.

Porter's Hot

Porter and I just got done with our walk...he's hot and laying on the wood floor to cool down. And don't forget drooling. Teehee!

The local paper has a fun little public soundoff area called Vox Populi. You have to know what's going on in the area to figure out some of the things tho. The Club Ice thing...a couple soldiers left the club and got shot by some dumba**. The firefighter thing? People are b*tching about the firefighters driving the engine to get lunch. Um, hey, what if you're cooking some fried chicken and the grease starts on fire...do you want the firemen to drop their sangwich and be able to jump in the engine or drop their sandwich, get in the car, drive back to the station, get their gear on, start the engine and then come to your grease fire? Everybody's got to eat!

Last night we had supper with the neighbors! They're so nice. We decided it was time to bust open a bottle of champagne we received as a wedding gift from my sister. So here we are out on the back porch, enjoying the bubbly. It was quite delicious!

And here's Porter enjoying his share. Just kidding...it's water, we just got back from a walk and he was thirsty!

Let's see, what else is going on...oh YEAH! Greg got a job! :) He's going to be a Team Leader in the Parts Dept. at JCB. He starts monday 10:30-7:30...kind-of weird hours if you ask me...which means I'm going to have to walk home from work. But at least I have that option of walking home! We can put off getting a 2nd vehicle for a few months yet which will be nice. Save the environment right...and gas money! I said I should get a little scooter (59mph? hot dog!), but Greg thinks people drive too nutty around here. Hrumph. Anyways...got off the subject eh? We're happy and Greg's excited, but sad his "vacation" is coming to an end. Teehee! He should be able to still come home in July unless they're real sticklers...they've needed this position filled for awhile, so we'll see what happens.

I think I covered it all now! There'll be more to chat about when Greg starts working I'm sure.

My 18 Cents

I didn't know what to title this one, as it's going to be hodge podges of info, maybe even 18 cents worth!

Alberto came and went. I watched the rain out the windows at work. There were crazy tourists even riding around doing tours! Silly tourists.

I got a raise at work! I found out that I'll be downtown through the summer. Laura's last day was today so I'm on my own now! I'm supposed to be getting more responsibilities too...I'm not sure what, but nothing like supervising a crew of 10 or anything. Ha! Greg is having good luck right now too. He's in the interview process at JCB. We'll probably find out next week how that goes. Keep your fingers crossed!

Not much else has been going on. I thought I saw K-Fed at the park jogging one night, but then I think I saw the same guy tonight, and it so wasn't him. I need to get my celebrity vision checked! Tomorrow is saturday, so it'll be wedding day at the park! Always something to see! Unless people are getting smart to the hot weather? Hahaa! Ohh, the fireworks are going off at the Sand Gnats stadium! Can't wait until the 4th of July to actually see some. The team isn't that great, but I hear Thirsty Thursday is the place to be!

Okay, this did not add up to 18 cents! Sorry for the lameness!

IMDB was WRONG!

OMG, I can't believe it...my bible was wrong. Crap! Of course they don't say where, but numerous people told Greg they were all here. Dag-gummit. I could've done a better job stalking! Teehee!

Not much else going on. It's hot again. Last week was bearable, but today was yucky. It's still high 80's at 9:30. This morning I broke a sweat watering a couple plants!

We ate at Jalepeno's for the first time finally. I keep hearing it's the bomb for Mexican Food around here. It was good!

My trainer girl is leaving me. She found a new job, accidently of course...so now they don't know what to do with me. So I just asked for more money for now. :) I guess we'll see what happens in the next couple weeks. But I know I need more responsibility or something, my brain is turning to mush as I lean on the front counter watching the tourists go by!

Nobody talked to me, but they talked to him "You sure are pretty...you sure are handsome...what's your name..." goodness gracious! Our own little celebrity!

Speaking of celebrity and a city oozing of it, the rumor is...Casey Affleck is in town getting married to Joaquin's sister and they're all staying up at the Mansion. That means Ben, Jen and baby Violet are all here, just a mere 3 blocks away from us and I have NO WAY besides stalking, to catch a glimpse. Porter and I just went for a walk and I saw one wedding and one bridal party in the park, but heck if there was anyone famous there. OH wait a minute...Greg's been canoodled...they're already married with one kid!!! Well, then who the heck is here? I think Greg needs to find a new informant. hah! Bad rumor mill, bad!

Ugh, alright, I guess I'll go find something else to be excited about. Tata!

Welcome Hurrican Season!

It's that time of year everyone, Hurricane Season! Rumors are that something BIG is supposed to happen again, but we'll see. Don't worry, we'll be ready...I think.

In other big news, SCAD kids are finally DONE! Yay! That means work won't be as busy and rowdiness will begin even more. If you look closely at that commencent page you'll see what I'm doing tonight...walking my happy feet two blocks down to the park and watching The Blues Traveler! For free! I'm so excited! Last year they had James Brown (even better) and the year before they had George Clinton and the Parliment Funkadelic. Vera Wang is somewhere around town too I think, or she just was...the goddess of wedding gowns. Man, who'd-a thunk this town is that oozing of celebrity.

Buzzer's home!!! He was able to come home today! No marathon's yet, but he is walking on his own. Yay!

I have this rusty metal moon thing that sticks in the ground as a yard decoration...somehow it spins around, but I think I know who's doing it!

Had a good 3-day weekend...like I said the other day, Saturday we went to see X-Men 3, we sat waiting for a hour before they came and told us that the projector was broken. So we got our money back and came home, Greg took a nap and I went shopping! Yeah, there were so many people there and I couldn't find anything, so it was a wasted trip. Well, not that wasted, I did get some Avon Skin-So-Soft bug spray! The word on the street it's the only stuff for gnats, not to be confused with the local Savannah Sand Gnats minor league team. Oh and the new Dream Book from Hallmark. That's the ornament book for you lay-persons. That night, I got to sit around for 3 hours with no electricity! I wasted time at the park, on the phone, chatting up the neighbors...I survived!

Sunday we went to the beach again! It wasn't as beastly hot as last weekend, but get this, the water, the Atlantic Ocean water...it was warm! Was it 'cause the air was cooler? Or did the water warm up with all the 98 degree weather? I guess it just warms up. After the beach we headed back towards town and stopped at Tubby's in Thunderbolt where they were having a "beach party" welcoming summer. The local band, Hazzard County was playing while we ate (not impressed this time with the restaurant) and then we watched Cowboy Crush. We've been getting lucky here and there with some concerts lately! They were really good and pretty fun. Some of you might recognize Nobody Ever Died of A Broken Heart.

My dad is doing great! They have him up and walking around now and he's out of the ICU. Just a few tubes left in him yet. I hear he's getting bossy too!

Today, Monday...we did go and see X-Men, it was great! I liked it, so did Greg. And that's about it! Back to the salt mines tomorrow! Nighty Night ya'll!
